How to Update Chromebook OS Software

It’s important to keep your Chromebook OS (Operating System) software up-to-date.  Here are directions on how to update your Chromebook’s software.

1). Click the Clock.

When you’re connected to the internet, your Chromebook automatically checks for and downloads updates.

1). To check for updates yourself, at the bottom right, select the Time.

2). Select Settings.

3). In the left sidebar, select About Chrome OS.

3). On the left, select About Chrome OS.

4). Select Check for Updates.

Under “Google Chrome OS,” you’ll see which version of Chrome operating system your Chromebook is using.

4). Select Check for Updates.

If an update is available, it will start to download automatically.

5). After your download is done, select Restart to finish the update.

The Chromebook may also alert you with a notification that it needs to restart to finish installing an update.
